The Operating System

Released in 1991, MacOS 7 marked a pivotal advancement in Apple’s operating system evolution. Notable for enhanced stability and multitasking, it introduced refined user interfaces with the Apple Menu and improved icons. The addition of HFS+ improved file management, while networking capabilities expanded through simplified connections and better file sharing. Multimedia support via QuickTime enriched user experiences. This era coincided with Apple’s processor transition from Motorola 68k to PowerPC, accommodating both architectures. Incremental updates like MacOS 7.5 brought features like the Extensions Manager.

The Web Browser

Microsoft Internet Explorer 2.0 for Macintosh was initially released on the 23rd April, 1996.
