The Operating System

OS X 10.1, codenamed “Puma,” was an operating system released by Apple Inc. in September 2001. It served as an update to the original OS X 10.0 “Cheetah,” addressing many of the stability and performance issues that users had encountered with the initial release. Key improvements included enhanced system performance, improved compatibility with third-party software, and refined user interface elements. OS X 10.1 also introduced features such as the ability to burn CDs directly from the Finder and improved support for peripheral devices.
