The Operating System
Developed under the code-name ‘Psyche’, Red Hat Linux 8.0 was released on the 30th September 2002. The underlying system was based on a 2.4.18 linux kernel, gcc 3.2 and a pre-release of glibc 2.3. It also shipped with the cross-environment Bluecurve theme that aimed to give the included GNOME 2 and KDE 3 desktops a unified look and feel.
Red hat Linux 8.0 recieved generally positive reviews though it was critised for the removal of the Taiwanese flag from the provided KDE installation.
