About
Salam Pax was the pseudonymous author of a blog that gained international attention for its documentation of life in Iraq before, during, and after the 2003 invasion. Written in English, the blog provided firsthand observations of the political and social climate in Baghdad, offering a perspective that contrasted with mainstream media coverage. Initially anonymous, the blogger was later identified as Salam Abdulmunem, an Iraqi architect. His posts covered a range of topics, including daily life under Saddam Hussein’s regime, the impact of the war, and the challenges faced by civilians in a conflict zone. The blog attracted a global readership and was subsequently compiled into a book.
