About

SETI@home was a distributed computing project launched in 1999 by the University of California, Berkeley. Its primary aim was to analyze radio signals from space in search of extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI). Participants installed software on their computers, allowing them to contribute spare processing power to the project. This collective effort enabled SETI@home to process vast amounts of data, effectively creating one of the largest supercomputers in the world.

The public element of SETI@home ceased in March 2020 and the project moved into a period of deeper analysis of the submitted results.
